Change is the only inevitable and stable phenomenon in the world. Mostly we humans do not easily accept the change around us and automatically make things tougher for ourselves.

When we do not accept a situation for what it is then we make it tougher for us to bring any remarkable change in the situation. No therapy can guarantee that life will always be smooth and there would be no trouble and changes ever. The only part that can be assured is that with the practice of the suggested technique we will be in a resourceful state to deal with the change in a constructive way.

What is a resourceful state of mind?

Remember a day of your life when you were very happy. In this state of happiness, you felt happy with everyone around you. People seemed nice and you had no complaints from anyone. If anyone asked for any help you were very ready to help the other person.

There was no lack in your mind and hence helping the other person was an easy task. You felt confident and on top of the world. It would have been easy to undertake any task and bring it to a fruitful completion. There was no worry about the future and no complaints from the past.

Now on the contrary-Remember a day of your life when you were very miserable. In this state of misery you were irritated with everyone around you. People seemed mean, selfish and you had only complaints from one and all. If anyone asked for any help, you were ready to snap and shoo away the other person.

There was only lack in your mind and hence helping the other person was out of question. You felt miserable, tired, victimized and at the rock bottom of things. It was tough to undertake any work and nothing was reaching to completion. There was only worry about the future and grudges from the past.

Now that you can identify these two states of mind clearly, please know that this is nothing but how your neurons are reacting to the outside situation. This predicament can be changed with some conscious flipping of my state of mind. Yes, this change of the state of mind from misery to happiness is possible at will.

7 Presuppositions on which the NLP therapy works

Put some thought in the premises mentioned below. If you feel that these statements make sense to you than there is a very good reason to learn NLP to bring a permanent positive self-induced change in my state of mind:-

  • The map is not the territory: What has happened is the same for everyone. It’s a factual event. How we perceive the event and how we respond to the event will make all the difference to the situation.
  • Every experience has a structure: Change the structure to change the experience. There is a way we are used to perceiving and interpreting things around us. If we want to change the way we respond we shall have to begin by changing the way we perceive the situations outside of us.
  • The mind and body are part of the same system: What happens to one impacts the other automatically. A healthy mind ensures a healthy body and vice versa a healthy body houses a healthy mind.
  • People already have the resources they need: We only need to learn how to use at will what talents we already have with us.
  • You cannot not communicate: Even our silence can be interpreted. It is not possible to not be involved in communication. Our gesture, words and silence- all show our response.
  • The meaning of the communication is the response you get: If I am not getting the desired response in a situation I need to change my way of communication.
  • Underlying every behavior is a positive intention: Each and every response we give has a positive emotion behind it. If I choose to ignore someone it might be stemming from the feeling of wanting to avoid hurt or humiliation coming from that person.

NLP can be effectively used to generate consciously better quality of emotions and thus actions in our life. It becomes tough to accept change as the thoughts are never in the present. Each thought is in the future or in the past.
